Sciences Com': Our teaching engineering and our projects of development depend on Free Software, directly threatened by the software patents directive

Sciences Com' is recognized today as one of the most progressive communication training centres in France, established in 1984. We offer undergraduate, graduate and professionnal training classes in communication.

" Our IT tools have been greatly fostered since the adoption of free software, as they match key points like budget, transparency and adaptability. The software patents project without amendments voted in first reading is an aberration to us : it's definitely against the interests of the suppliers or partners we work with, nor in the interests of final users like us. This directive has clearly no legitimacy, and seems to be the perfect answer to big corporations needs (not in Europe), eager to gain a tool for having the market under control, than being concerned by quality and real innovations in their product.

We hope the MEPs will see clearly what's going on in this game where Europe has a lot to loose : we are sure that software patents will be negative for final users and their software providers "
