POV: Software patents will make us unable to provide benefit for the community
Programmers of Vilnius (registered name UAB "Programuotoju artele") is a software development company that specializes in Python, Zope, web services and relational databases. POV uses open source tools to develop cross-platform solutions to meet clients' needs.
POV is a small software company and patents would most probably push us out of business as we cannot devote time or other resources to research which software patents we might infringe upon.
We develop a lot of open source software which benefits the community and allows people to have better tools for their work. Software patents will make it expensive and time consuming to develop open source software as the need to buy the use of a particular idea will force us to close our code and stop releasing it for the benefit of others.
