Pixware: If software patents are voted in Europe, we will stop developing and selling software products.

Pixware sells all around the world, under the brand name XMLmind, software products based on the XML standards.

General Manager of Pixware

" All our software products, though not OpenSource, come with full source code. This is really needed because, given the small size of our company, our customers may fear that we go out of business. For this reason, and also for other more technical reasons, having the source code of our products is a good guaranty for our customers.
Examining the source code is the best way to find algorithms for which patents have been filed. Due to the nature of software development and given the size of our code, we are certain to have infringed dozens of non-inventive, purely defensive, software patents.
Therefore, if software patents are voted in Europe, we will stop bundling the source code with our products. In such case, we expect our sales to decrease. And if our sales are too low, we will simply stop developing and selling software products all around the world. "
