INL: Patent litigation would mean the end to young innovative companies like ours.

INL is an innovating startup which develop an certificated requests firewall system completely new on the market whose name is NuFW. To date five persons are working at INL.

" We started INL at the beginning of 2004. From the start we have had innovative ideas. INL has been agreed by the French government to be a "Jeune Entreprise Innovante", a status that lowers taxes for new, innovative companies. At this point we are 5 people working for INL.

I don't know how this company could possibly deal with software patents : we don't have ressources to support filing any, and more especially for disputing a patent in a court. So if any big player in the business decided to send us to court for any patent infringment, I'm afraid we'd have to quit with this business. Though, at this time, we are the only ones and the very first on the market providing the features we have developped.

I found the Parliament did an excellent job in 1st reading to find a clear border between the realms of copyright (software) and patents (hardware). The Council of Ministers has broken down all limits of patentability. My hope is that the Parliament, in 2nd reading, will succeed to correct the errors made by the Council. "
