Within 20 minutes I already found 3 software patents granted in germany that will annihilate our work of 10 years! I didn't expect anything that bad when the patent problem was brought to my attention. Other non-retrieval-specialists may take longer, but that may be too late.
Not only will the patents of the huge american enterprizes make our work worthless, the developments of the european and especially german retrieval system suppliers will be for nothing. Language and search results should not be monopolized!
